First the cookie diet, and now the ice cream diet. Yes, it's a thing from Venice's raw organic ice cream specialist Kippy's on Lincoln. Gizmodo runs through the entire cleanse, with a day-by-day breakdown that features a load of saturated fat. The $240, four-day cleanse involves downing five pints of ice cream a day, plus a ton of water.
The author claims to have lost about seven pounds over the four days, only to gain most of it back a shortly thereafter. As for feeling cleansed, he writes:
But do we feel cleansed? I don't think so? First, to be totally frank, I'm not a big believer in cleanses. Most of them put your body into a state not unlike starvation, which generally results in gaining back any weight lost and possibly leading to bigger health concerns (i.e. screwing up your metabolism and insulin production). So, I don't really know what 'cleansed' is supposed to feel like.Only in L.A., the land of endless pressed juiceries and creative fad diets, can the ice cream cleanse truly to come life. The long term effects? The jury's still out.
