The barbecue scene in L.A. continues to truck along, especially with the Kickstarter-funded Max City BBQ, which earned rave Yelp reviews as a catering operation before going whole hog with a retail operation in Eagle Rock. Grand opening March 21, Jason McDonald and Melanie Blair are smoking up Southern-style 'cue like brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and more, along with classic sides like mac & cheese, collards, and coleslaw. Overall, pretty straightforward barbecue without adhering to a particular style or method. Also, the menu touts sandwiches, salads, plates, and even larger take-away packages that could feed a crowd.
