After months of construction, Karan and Candy Garcia Raina of contemporary Indian restaurant Radhika in Pasadena have opened Aro Latin, a similarly modern restaurant located one block east on Mission Street, focused on Latin American and Mexican cuisine. Karan plus Radhika executive chef Rigoberto Lopez are behind Aro Latin's lengthy fusion menu, which jumps from $6 empanadas to $12 lamb and pork belly tacos to cornish game hens stuffed with raisins, pomegranate, rose petals, and pecan salsa for $23. A coconut tres leches cake is the handiwork of pastry chef Rocio Camacho (Moles La Tia). As one would expect from a Latin restaurant, the bar here plays up mezcal and tequila, in this case specifically souced from Argentina, Chile and Spain. Hours of operation run Monday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Thursday/Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to midnight.
