Stamp Proper Foods, a Healthy Market in Los Feliz

Photos by Elizabeth Daniels

Welcome to Los Feliz's new neighborhood market and cafe Stamp Proper Foods, a spic and span eatery opening next month right by Messhall at the old Brown Derby site. The setup is pretty standard, with a bunch of communal tables and a counter where one orders. Among the tables one will find food-related gifty things from cookbooks to colorful aprons to cake plates.

Former model Cat Baker and partner David Beckwith are specifically gearing their healthful menu to those with particular diets from Paleo to gluten-free and vegan. Evidence: Moroccan lentils and eggs and avocado toast in the a.m., a kelp noodle salad and sweet potato sandwich for lunch, and raw zucchini pasta with pesto for dinner. Baker, who devised the recipes, is cooking with locally sourced product, natch. Hours of operation will run daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
