Tyler Wells Now Building Coffee Bar in Arts District

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Handsome Coffee's three man band is down to only one after Chris Owens decamped last year and Tyler Wells stepped away in December (only Michael Phillips remains). While Owens has been dabbling in other projects, Wells stuck around the Arts District, securing a tiny coffee bar space in the heart of the Arts District that will open by April, right next to the Alchemy Works boutique. The yet-to-be-named shop will serve San Francisco's Sightglass Coffee in pale blue ceramic mugs (similar to the ones at Menotti's), while Wells hopes to introduce some variants like chai lattes, chocolate drinks, tea and even open-faced sandwiches.
