MID-CITY— Fala Bar, a vegan falafel bar and salad cafe, is opening on Melrose at Fairfax this coming Monday. Owners Andres Izquieta and Mike Shab are behind the fast food Mediterranean eatery, which touts almost entirely gluten-free eats (except for pita bread) and organic produce. DOWNTOWN— While legendary sushi chef Nobu Matsuhisa is supposedly partnering with Oracle CEO Larry Ellison on a Nobu Hotel in Malibu, word on the street is that a Nobu Hotel is (also) slated to open in place of the Arts District's Modernica Lofts at 2102 E 7th Place.
