Joshua Zad, the guy behind cutesy Stumptown-serving coffee shop Alfred on Melrose Place, drops Eater a note to say that he's launching a sophomore effort, Alfred, In the Alley, two blocks away at the new development coming to the northwest corner of Melrose and La Cienega. He's taking only 500 square feet with all outdoor seating to serve coffee, pressed juice, and pastries. Pretty much like Alfred just on a micro scale. As its name suggests, Alfred, In the Alley will be accessible via an alley in between two buildings right by Cycle House just off Melrose Avenue. Zad is ready to complete with nearby Le Pain and Urth.
