Minimum wage talk is all the rage right now in political spheres, and the debate is hitting home in L.A., where city and business leaders are considering a $15 minimum wage for all workers. Business owners in Echo Park chime in about the effect it would have to the restaurant scene. Serena Herrick, bartender at Allumette, says: "Generally speaking fairly paid employees do better work, Feeling adequately appreciated via compensation makes a better work environment overall." She also posits that a minimum wage hike would be especially helpful for those in the back of the house. [The Eastsider]
