Charlie Parker, the heart and soul of Freddy Smalls' diminutive but dynamic kitchen, has departed as of April 12 to pursue a position in Northern California. According to Parker, it's another fine dining institution, though he's not able to say at the moment. It makes sense since before this, Parker worked at Manresa. Still, this leaves a gaping hole for denizens of West LA that were treated to Parker's innovative pub fare. The chef also said that this opportunity allows him to be closer to his son, who lives in Northern California. It's uncertain who will replace Parker, or who will helm the upcoming The Shack in Santa Monica.
