Chef Michael Cimarusti will briefly shutter Providence, his praised New American seafood-focused restaurant on Melrose, around mid-May for an ocean-themed redesign. But, designer Tamara Kaye-Honey (House of Honey) is ready to work at lightening speed to get the space ready for its close up by the end of the month.
A release describes the redo as "a luxe vision of our oceans as seen through the lens of an Art Deco enthusiast." Expect dark blue velvet chairs with brass-capped feet, driftwood chandeliers, and dark blue carpeting. Cimarusti is also enclosing Providence's patio and giving it the same ocean-inspired treatment.
In other news, Providence recently switched its menu over to a tasting menu only format.
