After two years in Echo Park, Senor Fish is looking to go big with approved plans for a 199-seat eatery plus full liquor, according to The Eastsider. Not quite Cheesecake Factory, but still one of the largest places to drink and get a meal in the Eastside.

This part of town seems rife with Americanized Mexican restaurants, from newbie El Condor (formerly El Conquistador), Malo, El Cid, and soon Tarascos. Senor Fish's increased size does pose some parking issues, though there are no plans to turn the place into a nightclub.

But here's the rub: Yelp reviews for the Senor Fish are pretty dismal, and commenters on The Eastsider say the place is rarely full, even in its current state. Is the owner trying to expand the place only to sell it off to a willing buyer? Think of it like flipping a home, but with all service-ready restaurant in a prime neighborhood.
