DOWNTOWN—Although BierBeisl chef Bernhard Mairinger is still working to relocate his praised Austrian eatery from Beverly Hills to the west side, he's also opening BierBeisl Imbiss this summer at the Spring Arcade Building downtown. It's the same compound that's will house Gelateria Uli and Guisados and here Mairinger has room to feed 50- 60 guests a more casual BierBeisl menu that will definitely include sausages. He's also bringing over a pastry chef from Austria to craft bread and Viennese pastries onsite. [DD]
ECHO PARK— Cookbook owners Marta Teegan and Robert Stelzner have sold their year and a half old seasonal small plate eatery Cortez. The Eastsider isn't sure who bought the place but some think a Japanese eatery could be next. A while back the chefs behind The Amalur Project, which popped up last fall, had considered taking over the space. Anyway, Cortez owners claim that the sale will afford them the opportunity to pursue a "long list" of other projects. [The Eastsider]
AROUND TOWN— On Tax Day, April 15, 1933 Group is offering $1 cocktails at all of their venues from 5-9 p.m.: Oldfield's Liquor Room, Sassafras, The Big Foot Lodge, Big Foot West, Thirsty Crow, and La Cuevita. [EaterWire]
