After a somewhat rocky start, Chi-Lin — Innovative Dining Group's fashionable Chinese restaurant which partially replaced the old Hamburger Hamlet in West Hollywood along with adjacent IDG Italian eatery RivaBella — seemed to more recently find its footing with chef Tyson Wong Ophaso. But sadly, as of Sunday, the restaurant has shuttered. And that has got to hurt because IDG, by way of Studio Collective, poured a pretty penny into the place to make sure it was property equipped with the requisite 300 lanterns and power booths for all.
IDG hyped the restaurant from the get-go, flashing Cecile Tang of JOSS as opening chef and teasing an upscale menu of uni dumplings and Cantonese lobster for those with deeper pockets.
Here now, the word straight from IDG's camp:
In anticipation of a brand new, one-of-a-kind endeavor replacing IDG's modern Chinese concept Chi Lin, the restaurant had its last night of service Sunday night. IDG will share details about the new project in the coming weeks, once the ink dries.Meanwhile, a reader with an upcoming Chi-Lin reservation writes in to say that restaurant reps called to inform of the shutter and stated that the next eatery would open hopefully in a few months.
