Terrazza Anchors at Casa del Mar in SaMo Come May

Catch restaurant within Casa del Mar in Santa Monica has a few new flourishes to note, including a raw bar and banquette seating that looks out to the sea. But the hotel is putting most efforts toward Terrazza, a forthcoming cafe and lounge slated to open during the first week of May in place of Veranda (to the right of Catch behind the bar). Chef Sven Mede (of Catch but also Shutters/Casa del Mar as a whole) is behind the venue's coastal menu, which derives influence from the US and abroad in the form of small plates. Some of the dishes he's considering: Steamed Clams with Calabrian sausage, Big-Eye Tuna Sicilian Style, but also crudos, pizzas, house-made pasta, and seasonal veggie preps. Designer Michael S. Smith­ (Shutters) is working with green/aqua tiles from Spain, carved wood tables, and wicker chairs to capture a beachside feel.
