Josh Drew Stepping Into Fifty Seven Starting June 5

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Fifty Seven began ambitiously back in late March with David Nayfeld, formerly of NYC's Eleven Madison Park. The concept of the place called for a rotating lineup of chefs to take the helm after a multi-month stint. Nayfield's tenure will be ending on May 31. Now, Josh Drew, who's also working with Beau Laughlin at the upcoming Cordoba in Los Feliz, has been summoned as the next chef of Fifty Seven beginning June 5.

Previously the executive chef of FarmShop and James Beard Rising Star nominee, Drew will continue to use the flavors of South America as an inspiration, but with the same commitment to seasonal produce. Meanwhile, David Nayfeld is currently working on a new fine dining restaurant project here in L.A. Laughlin recently took over the old Naya space in Silver Lake with plans for a new concept there.
