DK's Donuts, while not the most original of donut shops in the country, is generally one of the quickest to follow a good trend. And with the latest in fried dough coming from Alex Hernandez' Waffles Cafe in Chicago, Santa Monica's finest has created their own version of the wonut, or waffle donut, with available ube, red velvet, chocolate and original butter.

Priced at $6.95 for the whole waffle or for $2 a slice, choose a coating like cream cheese frosting, hawaiian coconut glaze, and whipped cream, then opt for fresh strawberries, oreo crumbles or sprinkles as toppings. Just this past weekend alone, DK's sold over 200 waffle donuts. Available daily at 5 a.m. until supplies run out.
