Mercado Plans Third Outlet at Spoonful on Cahuenga

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Jesse Gomez continues to expand on his successful concept, Mercado, which is taking over the former Henry's Hat and current Spoonful spot on Cahuenga. This marks the third rendition of the Mexican restaurant that first opened in Santa Monica, then recently doubled over last year to West Third Street. The 47 license does allow full liquor to go along with the food while the rather spacious area should accommodate plenty of the Hollywood Hills and University City crowd that's starving for a neighborhood watering hole and cantina. No word yet on the opening, but expect an opening for some time later this year.
