The wind is blowing, but all is calm inside Terrazza, the new lobby restaurant and bar at the tony Casa del Mar, open today but officially serving for the first time tomorrow. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean from an unfettered perch, the highly anticipated eatery is helmed by Sven Mede (Catch, Shutters at the Beach), who's presenting small plates for sharing. Because nobody wants to overeat at a pretty place like this.

Think linguine with steamed clams, dunguness crab crostini (toasts are all the rage these days), and beef carpaccio. Also, pizzas, crudo, and larger seafood plates like grilled branzino for something with some more heft. As for cocktails, try the Sicilian Smash, made with amaretto, bourbon, OJ, and mint before a finish of bitters.
