Imagine a beach, somewhere along the Mediterranean. A light breeze, some iced tea or beer to sip on. Except when you look out, it's not water, it's Santa Monica Blvd. Welcome to Beach Nation, an expansive parking lot turned into the hottest open hangout in West Hollywood opening some time in late May. Adjacent to the legendary Irv's Burgers (which is still intact, and will play a part sometime in the future), Beach Nation comes direct from Thomas Schoos, designer of Herringbone and the upcoming Red O in Santa Monica.

The inspiration for Beach Nation comes from the cool beach cafes lining party spots along Europe's coasts, except smack dab in the middle of West Hollywood. For now, the menu has juices, salads, sandwiches, and coffee from San Jose's lauded Barefoot Coffee. But beer and wine will arrive shortly pending permits. Sit back, relax, cheers with friends to the beach life, and just remember, it's just WeHo.
