Ford's Filling Station Taking Over L.A. Market at JW Marriott Downtown

LA Market at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live
More big news for the downtown dining set, specifically within proximity to Staples Center. Faith & Flower is now live and booming nearby, and the long-awaited third outpost of Plan Check at 1111 Wilshire just to the north is coming along smoothly.

Now comes word that Ford's Filling Station, the rustic chef Ben Ford-led Culver City eatery, is expanding again -- this time into the current LA Market space on the ground floor of the JW Marriott building at L.A. Live. With another Ford's already stationed out at LAX, it seems the Filling Station brand is doing better than ever, and will now compete for pre-show / pre-game dollars from Staples Center across the street.

According to Marriott, the plan is to make Ford's Filling Station the hotel's signature restaurant, which means breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week. Seasonality and fresh ingredients will still play a strong part in the menu, though there are certain to be a few tweaks to make the elevated gastropub fare a bit friendlier to tourists and those looking for a quick meal. Cocktails will be on hand, of course, and the restaurant is working on a few signature dishes that will be exclusive to the Marriott location. Ford himself is quoted as being "excited to be a part of [the] metamorphosis" of downtown L.A.

The new Ford's Filling Station will take over LA Market, the soon-to-be-defunct space at the lobby level of the hotel. No word yet on an official shutter date for Kerry Simon's Market, but Ford's plans to be into their new space and operating by mid-Fall. —Farley Elliott
