Steak 'n Shake's Third Street Promenade Plywood Up

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Checking in with Steak 'n Shake on Third Street Promenade, it looks like the plywood for the popular Midwest diner chain is up for pedestrians to ogle at. Featuring everything from a nice outdoor patio to a beer & wine license that's currently posted on the front, construction inside is still very much in the rough stage. At this point, because of the large size, it might be hard to imagine the place opening before the end of the year. While this location is supposed to be a flagship, other Steak 'n Shakes are supposed to land other various spots around town, though none have been confirmed.
