Here's another casual seafood spot for West Third street in the form of Blue Plate Oysterette, the landlocked sister of Santa Monica's beachside hangout. Opening on June 29 with a slew of fresh oysters, sandwiches, salads, and hot plates, owner Jennifer Rush Morton hopes to offer the same New England-style on deck at the Westside.

Designed by Tim Clarke to reflect an open, airy, refreshing space that feels both relaxed and convivial, there's even a nice patio where landlubbers can dream up the sound of the waves. Drop by daily from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., grab a glass of rose or a pint of suds, and waste the hours away with a basket of fried clams or a whole steamed Maine lobster.
