Dumb Starbucks Morphs Into La Pergoletta in Los Feliz

Is there a new Italian-by-way-of-Brazil restaurant coming to Los Feliz? That's word on early signage that just went up at a storefront on Hillhurst, says a tipster. That infamous spot was where the worldwide non-sensation Dumb Starbucks lived for a few days. Little known outside of Brazil, La Pergoletta appears to be a casual Italian eatery with a "pasta fresca" motto. Think photos of old black and white movie stars on the walls, cityscapes of Rome and checkered tablecloths. The American website for the brand points to the 1802 Hillhurst Ave. location and promises a summer 2014 launch, though specifics are as of yet unclear.

The Dumb Starbucks parody pop-up was masterminded by comedian Nathan Fielder for the second season of his show on Comedy Central. Perhaps Fielder might just be willing to import a Brazilian pasta restaurant. Who knows. —Farley Elliott
