WEST HOLLYWOOD—The Dakota Weiss-led restaurant opening at 8800 Sunset with Alan Nathan in West Hollywood is still underway, with a December debut expected. Weiss is currently getting some pastry chops from SF's Craftsman and Wolves ahead of a stellar pastry and breakfast program in the works. In addition, Weiss is hoping to focus on local produce as the star of the menu. Lastly, Weiss is currently working to release her first wine from LXV winery. [EaterWire]

MALIBU—Malibu Coast just received their official American Viticultural Areas demarcation today by the government, making it one of the newest wine appellations in the country. This should elevate the overall visibility of the wine-growing region.
