Welcome the landlubber's haven since 1944, The Venice Whaler, re-opened by Mike Dobson, who acquired the space with the intent of transforming the formerly ho-hum experience to something up to par with the rest of Venice (and Marina del Rey). Chef Nick Liberato introduces a fresh menu of bites like tuna poke, hangover lettuce wraps, kale salad, and shrimp rolls on brioche. Designed by Kelly Patry, who also put together Seven Grand and Honeycut, the building now has a cleaned up yet classic appearance that will right at home for beachside locals.

The bar program gets a hefty revamp from Anthony Settecase, who's been around everywhere from NYC's Balthazar to LA's Dia de Campo and Las Perlas. Consider the Moscow Whale, made with vodka or bourbon, citrus-ginger syrup, Angostura and ginger beer. In addition, 13 beers on tap for the craft brew junkies. Hours run 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
