Firenze Osteria Getting Massive Makeover in NoHo

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Firenze Osteria, the rather cheesy Italian spot by Top Chefestant Fabio Viviani, is going under the knife beginning July 31 for a hefty makeover. Teamed up with new ownership, Viviani is changing the gussied up Macaroni Grill-esque menu to something more seasonal, local, and contemporary, according to PR flacks. They're also adding a live music component, which should make things even more exciting for fans of the always smiling Viviani.

No word on if the name will stick around, or when Viviani will fire up the kitchen again. Recall also that S. Irene Virbila gave Firenze a zero-star review back in 2010, upon which Viviani responded by saying, "I don't give a shit."
