Lo/Cal Coffee and Market opened their doors a little later than expected, but the place is now serving coffee lovers as of this morning. Stumptown is the coffee roaster, for drip coffee and espresso. They also have Stumptown's cold brew, both regular and on tap using nitrous oxide, giving the cold brew a smoother, creamier, beer-like texture. The beautiful espresso machine is a La Marzocco GB/5 with gold emblems for coffee aficionados.
The coffee shop will carry teas from Art Of Tea and delicious baked goods from Le Pain du Jour Bakery. Cold press juice will be an addition as well, but no word on what brand just yet. The location on Pico and 22nd is perfect for Santa Monica college students, or anyone picking up to go to the park and/or library across the street. Lo/Cal was open for business last week with limited hours but starting today the hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A Grand Opening event will be held Saturday, August 23. The owners motto is "finding a perfect balance between the highest quality product and the beloved local coffee shop feel." — Keyla Vasconcellos
