Watch out Mid-City. In addition to the uber-popular Tatsu Ramen doubling over to the corner of La Brea and Melrose, Sawtelle neighbor and Vietnamese specialist NongLa is planning a late 2014 debut on the corner of La Brea and Beverly. Does this mean that the central part of L.A. is ready for the casual, affordable Asian cuisine that's only lived in certain enclaves of the city?
According to co-owner Elaine Phuong, construction commences in the next month, with a slick interior look from Design, Bitches. Menu items will reflect those of the Sawtelle original, though a few original dishes might appear at this location. Expect a slew of great pho, cold vermicelli noodles, banh mi, and rice dishes that would feel at home in SGV or Little Saigon.
