Here's Takuma, a slick new izakaya near the corner of 26th and Wilshire that opened last week in Santa Monica. The chef, named Takuma, worked previously at the Torrance and Santa Monica Mushas, bringing a similar Japanese-style pub vibe to the Westside. As for the menu, expect a similar variety of sake and beer-friendly bites like chicken karaage, okonomiyaki, fried saba mackerel, tonkatsu, and more. Nearby Sasaya might have some healthy competition coming toward it in West LA. Open from 6 to 11 p.m. daily.
