The Eastside already enjoys a pretty prodigious take-out sandwich scene, thanks to places like Sopressata at Black Hogg and the more recent Trencher in Echo Park. Now it looks like more good midday meal news, by way of Lucky Duck by Square One and new executive chef Luke Reyes, who previously manned the stoves at the likes of Scratch Bar, The Corner Door and The Tasting Kitchen.
The casual American bistro right on Hyperion has been open about eight months, but just yesterday pulled out the beautiful new lunch window you see above.
Curious Silver Lakers are invited to stop by between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for inventive sandwiches, like a roast beef and Point Reyes Blue Cheese-whiz sandwich, or a decadent Old Bay fried chicken with sunny side egg and maple gravy on a buttermilk biscuit. There's no inside seating, of course, but sandwichers can head to the side patio for a seat, should they so choose.
And in perhaps even bigger news for the brunch-hungry neighborhood, Lucky Duck is unveiling their weekend late-morning eats this weekend as well. With the overwhelming popularity of Square One's brunches, it was only a matter of time before brioche french toast and buttermilk waffles made their way to Silver Lake. Interestingly enough, there will also be a few 'for the table' options, like biscuits and gravy, pork chops and a half dozen baked eggs. Though, ordering six baked eggs by yourself would be pretty awesome.
Lunch service runs Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while brunch is Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
