The Future of Restaurants

12_2012_ALMA-1711-thumb.JPGEater Editor-in-Chief Amanda Kludt argues over on The Verge that while convenience apps like Resy and Cover are cool, they aren't what the restaurants of the future should focus on. She hopes that one day, "a career in the restaurant industry…is respectable and dignified. That would mean healthcare, a higher minimum wage...It would be a future where the industry is divorced from tipping culture and the subminimum wage, where servers don't wildly outearn chefs."
