At Katsuya by Starck, it's all about seeing and being seen. Giant eyes and lips overlook diners at this 4,636-square-foot seating 175 with a sushi bar taking center stage at SLS Las Vegas. Master sushi chef Katsuya Uechi handles the menu while Philippe Starck consulting through Gensler designed the space that includes a "bento box" floor plan. Geisha imagery, natural hemlock wood, and pops of neon color highlight the look and feel of this space that also features oversized samurai helmets, a design imported from the brand's newest locations in the Middle East. Helpful tidbit: The Japanese kanji symbol "Katsu" means "victory."
The menu here was adapted for the American palate, dispensed from one of four kitchens: the Liquid Kitchen, Cold Kitchen, Sushi Kitchen, and Hot Kitchen. Also find cocktails such as the Burning Mandarin and Katsuya Fresh. Have a large group? Head to the semi-private Dragon Room with room for 20.
