The Nice Guy, a sort of ode to all things Goodfellas from h.wood group, opened August 22 on La Cienega in the former Mezze space. Founded by a quartet of (probably) nice men, John Terzian, Brian Toll, Markus Molinari and Adam Koral, this is the first major production for the group since Hooray Henry's debuted on Beverly back in August 2013. The vibe here is like a fancy neighborhood spot where everyone knows your name (or they better). Most likely they will because it's reservations-only (see below for the number), a rare thing in Los Angeles.

John-Carlos Kuramoto (Michael's) puts together a friendly menu of simple bites, ranging from comfort to healthy, including burger with maple-glazed bacon, meatballs with spicy tomato sauce, prosciutto pizza, and duck banh mi. Oh, and for "lighter" fare, there's charred broccoli and a chopped salad. Brian Stewart prepares the specialty cocktail list, which boasts The Smoking Gun, made with bourbon, sweet vermouth, and maraschino in a scotch-sprayed glass.
