What a loss for L.A. Talented pastry chef Cesar Bermudez, who came stateside to help open The Bazaar with José Andrés, then went on to manage the desserts at Flores before landing at Cafe Rockenwagner, is departing the city of Angels. LA Weekly reports that the Bermudez is returning to his home country because of new professional projects. In addition to Cafe Rockenwagner, the Spanish chef was throwing a tapas pop-up called La Sal at 3 Square Cafe in Venice. He made a mark at Brentwood's Rockenwagner with classic European pastries and desserts that were nearly unparalleled in L.A. The Weekly does hint that with all the ties Bermudez left in L.A., it's possible to see him return one day.
