Meat District Co., that Australian outfit opening up in Old Town Pasadena, is counting down to their debut on the website. At the moment, it's showing a hair over three days, which means Old Town denizens will have the glories of all things meat at their fingertips, including ribs, burgers, steaks, and more. Too bad it was a few weeks shy of The Five Days of Meat, but that won't stop Meat District from serving things like an $18 petit aged Angus tenderloin or 20 oz Porterhouse. Or perhaps an alternative like roasted lamb or pork shoulder.
Designed by DS17, the place will reveal plenty of open cases with aging meat, as well as an open kitchen so that diners can feel like they're a part of the action. Charcuterie will be another key part of the program, a nod to the butcher's feel of the place. Also, a set of burgers that should compete nicely with nearby Slater's 50/50. And finally, since this is California, some healthier things to eat on the side like a crunchy cabbage and chopped apple salad called the Shogun. Craft beer and wine rounds on the list of drink offerings.
