It's not Beats by Dre. It's ROOTS at Black Hogg, Silver Lake's remixed restaurant by Eric Park. Re-opening tonight with a spruced up menu and "surgical" improvements to the underpinnings of the eatery, the dishes go on hyperdrive with offerings like exotic vegetable crudite (sided by his own ssam jang), whole fried fish, short rib cartilage, and of course the classic bone marrow burger (the latter is only available 6 to 7 p.m.).
Overall, it's a bit of a departure from the quasi-Animal bill of fare to something edgier, ethnic, and downright bold. Cultural inspiration comes from Park's upbringing with Korean and Mexican flavors, as well as a heavy dose of grandma's cooking. Pick up a seat here, and enjoy the new ride. Note, Sorpressata is back to serving its signature sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. ROOTS at Black Hogg is open Tuesday to Sunday, at 6 p.m.
