Rejoice fans of the uber-ice cream shop Salt & Straw, opening September 13 in Larchmont Village. While a few offerings have been available at Joan's on Third for quite some time, along with the ice cream truck, which has been recently parking in front of Black Top Coffee in Arts District.

But this brick & mortar is the first major expansion for the specialty shop, which plans to use the bounty of local ingredients and produce in Southern California to its advantage. The storefront has a lovely wooden facade while inside, expect a bevy of flavors such as sweet almonds, poppy liquer, and even butter & salt doughnuts from Sidecar.

Founders Tyler Malek will be behind all the ice cream making while co-founder and cousin Kim manages the business overall. Hours will run 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, with single scoops for $4.25 and doubles for $6.25. Kids scoops will be $3.25.
