La Monarca Bakery Empire Expanding to Boyle Heights

La Monarca hits the ever crowded Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights, bringing high-quality Mexican baked goods and pastries to East LA.

Exciting things are happening in Boyle Heights. After undergoing a $25 million renovation, the historic Boyle Hotel will be home to La Monarca's sixth location. Located across the street from the Mariachi Plaza, the Mexican bakery is expected to open in late fall. Beyond pan dulce and other sweet treats, locals will have access to La Monarca's offerings of tortas, quiches, salads, and single-origin Oaxacan coffee. With locations in Huntington Park, East LA, Santa Monica, South Pasadena, Hollywood, and now Boyle Heights, stay on the lookout of for even further expansion of this growing empire. —Crystal Coser
