Dr. J's Vibrant Cafe in Downtown Clears the Deck

Turns out the uber healthy food without any flavor won't win any loyal customers, even in the ever crowded Downtown market.

Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

It was a short-lived life for Dr. J's Vibrant Cafe, that uber healthy spot that had seemed to suck the joy out of eating and drinking. The cafe found it hard to really pick up a following, even in a place where pedestrians are myriad and the folks looking for something healthy are equally numbered. Still, the clean, airy confines were cleared out a few weeks ago, with nothing really planned for the space. It's most likely available for any takers who want to take on chef Josef Centeno's dominance, which is getting another anchor with the upcoming Pete's Cafe.
