Earlier this week, the long-lasting Chabuya, which seemed to die off in popularity with the recent rise in Sawtelle's food scene (though it still had some faithful customers), was unceremoniously replaced by Beni Tora. The noodle bar's Tokyo legacy was a draw for many customers looking for a solid bowl of ramen on the Westside, but it just couldn't stand the wave of new school eateries and stronger competition like Tsujita. Beni Tora, which already has an outlet inside Mitsuwa Torrance, specializes in giant gyoza and a black garlic-inflected black tan tan men. According to Chowhound, all the employees from Chabuya have stayed on.
