After a little hop skip down the street, Olive & Thyme returns to the comfy confines of Burbank with a much nicer, brighter space to feed the masses all the great pastries, fresh salads, and sandwiches that the all-day eatery is known for. Founded by Melina and Christian Davies, the move and revamp took about four months to complete, but this time chef Joe Marcos (The Spice Table) prepares a bit more in the way of substantial fare, especially at dinner. Opened late last week, shouty chef Gordon Ramsay was already seen hanging out inside (sans F bombs).
Consider dishes like oven-roasted turkey, spicy chicken with havarti cheese pressed into a panini, lasagna, and braised short ribs with horseradish creme fraiche. In addition, a full wine bar will come along with a vino-friendly menu of lamb meatballs, roasted cauliflower, burrata, flatbreads, and wild salmon. Finally, brunch commences some time in the near future, meaning finally a great place to hang out on a late Sunday morning in Burbank. Though Joan's on Third is lurking nearby soon in Studio City, this homegrown favorite lives on another day.
