Manhattan Beach never seems to be satisfied with the number of eateries it has, probably because the tide has only recently started to rise. Love & Salt, by Michael Fiorelli, takes over the iconic Cafe Pierre space, but the process has been pretty extensive. The overhaul does come with some nice updates though, including a totally new cocktail program from consultant Vincenzo Marianella, who hasn't done much in the way of consulting recently. Expect to see a heavy dose of classics, like Negronis and Aperol spritzes, but with an emphasis on locally sourced spirits and ingredients. It'll likely aspire to be the spot for great cocktails in the South Bay.
In terms of decor, Fiorelli is adding a giant skylight that'll perfect for soaking in that Manhattan Beach sun, with high ceilings and exposed beams to give it a sort of industrial feel. Also, an open kitchen and counter seating - practically de rigeur these days. Think of it as the kind of place where you can drop by, grab a drink, have a few dishes, and maybe hit the Strand for a nice evening stroll (as if M.B. Post doesn't already do that but that's been mobbed since day one).
