Hermosa Beach graces the addition of another Brazilian restaurant right by the pier. Copacabana Brazilian BBQ opened on Labor Day Weekend and has proven to be a hit.  Not a typical Brazilian steakhouse, but a casual home-cooked Brazilian buffet by the pound, which is a very common concept in Brazil. The food at Copacabana is not only traditional to Rio De Janeiro but other regions as well.

To start, choose between 4 types of meats, which include grilled chicken,  the specialty piranha (sirloin cap), tri tip and sausage, followed by an assortment of salads, hot and cold dishes to choose from. Then, the plates are weighed and the the parties pay according to the pound. The same concept is done at Pampas Grill, at the Grove. Cold dish examples are hearts of palm, fresh fruit, salads like caesar and cucumber, feta and onion salad. Hot dishes include the Brazilian cheese bread (pao de queijo), black bean stew with different meats (feijoada) and collard greens, making it super authentic. The prices are very affordable at $10.99 a pound for the buffet with a choice of a meat.  If one just wants to order from the hot and cold dishes, the price goes for $8.99 by the pound.

Copacabana Brazilian BBQ is perfect for a work lunch, to enjoy by the beach in Hermosa or a casual dinner by the pier. The hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m and they reopen for dinner, at 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The restaurant is currently working on staying open later for the late night beach crowd. In the meantime, go enjoy Brazilian cheese bread, picanha and a Brazilian soda (guarana) in this prime Hermosa Beach location.
