Meet Atticus Creamery & Pies, Now Scooping in West LA

Atticus Creamery & Pies, West LA's newest ice cream shop, has opened its doors to the public for a preview of its delights, including ice cream, pies and cookies with a grand opening coming in two weeks.

Choices here include coconut ice cream with toasted coconut shavings, salted caramel ice cream with caramel popcorn pieces, red velvet with cream cheese and red velvet cake pieces, and a lemon lavender, made up of lemon ice cream with lavender bark, which is said to possess a lovely and pleasant aroma. More flavors, such as caramel macchiato, will be added after the grand opening.

In addition to ice cream and cookies, Atticus bakes up pies. One tasty option includes coconut banana cream pie, a combination of coconut and banana cream pie in one. The custards for all pies, along with all menu items, are made in house daily with only fresh ingredients.

Currently open from noon to 10 p.m., its proximity to UCLA and Santa Monica College could potentially push them to stay open one or two extra hours to accommodate the younger crowd. — Keyla Vasconcellos
