Andy Ricker hinted over the weekend during the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival that he much prefers to open his new outlet in Los Angeles, especially in Chinatown. Here now, a strong inside source that confirms that Ricker is indeed bringing his celebrated Pok Pok, which already has spots in Portland and New York, to the heart of LA's Chinatown. Located inside Mandarin Plaza, Pok Pok will probably be surrounded by art galleries and knick-knack stores until more food concepts can descend upon the area.
Either way, food hipsters will have plenty to choose from in the neighborhood, including Starry Kitchen (which will hopefully go full on with its banh mi shop) and Roy Choi's Chego. And Ricker, who already made a huge splash on the Big Apple, will likely bring one of the country's finest Thai restaurants to a city already chock full of them.
