Matthew Kang is the Lead Editor of Eater LA. He has covered dining, restaurants, food culture, and nightlife in Los Angeles since 2008. He's the host of K-Town, a YouTube series covering Korean food in America, and has been featured in Netflix's Street Food show.

Robbie Richter's been lurking for a few months after he decamped from Roadhouse LA. The former New York City-based chef has now landed at Villains Tavern, where along with Chris Peterson, will introduce a more ambitious global street food menu that should work well for the mixed-use drinking venue.

Think Xian-style mutton kebabs, Venezuelan holiday tamales, and even Sunday barbecues features grilled meats paired with funk, soul, and R&B tunes. Also consider vegetarian Lebanese lentils and Malaysian chicken wing skewers. Richter and Peterson have been conducting pop-ups and one-night events such as whole roast lamb, but this now seems to be a long term endeavor, which works great for Arts District denizens.

As a note, Sunday Soul Barbecue takes place from 4 to 9 p.m.
