The popular ice cream maker is ramping up for a March arrival.

Back in October, word broke that Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams was headed for Los Angeles with a serious retail operation. Though flaks at the time were stingy about specific Silver Lake-adjacent location details, it now looks like Jeni's has officially moved into a Los Feliz storefront.

Just a second, though: the place isn't ready quite yet. So in order to keep the masses at bay while readying for a March debut, Jeni's is rolling out a mobile ice cream truck for a few special engagements between now and then.

First up is a stop at Urban Radish downtown on January 28 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. After that, the Jeni's truck will roll up to Poketo on 3rd St. on February 7 for some afternoon ice cream, followed by a pit stop at the Silver Lake Flea Market on February 14.

For the uninitiated, Jeni's is a Midwest (well, Ohio) based ice cream operation founded by James Beard-winner Jeni Britton Bauer. Their focus is on high-quality ingredients and interesting flavors, though don't expect wacky, savory combos. Jeni's shops already exist in several East Coast states, making their Los Feliz venture a real inroads into perhaps more West Coast ice cream scooping.

It sure seems like chef-driven ice cream and sorbet is having a bit of a moment around Los Angeles. Don't want to wait in line at a truck for ice cream? Hold out for Jeni's upcoming Hillhurst location, which should be unleased in March.
