Oscar Hermosillo knows no end to the taco genre, and this latest takes some inspiration from the Northern edge of Mexico, where Sonoran grillmasters fire up some of the best carne asada on earth.
Dubbed Clutch, Hermosillo is using a wood-burning grill (note those stacks of wood outside the building), this casual new eatery takes over the old Benny's Tacos on Lincoln, which had lived in Venice for a few years. Chef Niko Trigueros, who hails from Santa Monica's Blue Plate Taco, is cooking up everything from smoked duck to carne asada, as well as different kinds of fish. And since this is Venice, things like kale end up in tacos too.
