Ray Garcia Unleashing Broken Spanish With Bill Chait in Downtown

A pan-Latin restaurant headed to former Rivera space by late Spring 2015

Breaking. Ray Garcia is indeed taking over the Rivera space with Bill Chait's Sprout Restaurant Group. The concept is called Broken Spanish, a pan-Latin restaurant that boasts traditional elements with modern techniques. Prior to this project, Garcia was doing a mostly California seasonal menu at FIG in Santa Monica. This concept is a bit truer to Garcia's culinary and personal background. Here's the official word from their team:

The fare is authentically inauthentic, representing a city of migrant-rich flavors through the lens of a native. From its heart, Broken Spanish will emanate a warmth that Garcia is known for, hoping to foster an atmosphere of family and community.

Downtown, get excited because Ray Garcia is about to bring another interpretation of Latin cuisine to South Park.
