Indie Brewing Co. and Taproom Primed for Ever-Gentrifying Boyle Heights

An upstart urban brewery is currently rehabbing the location.

Here comes the next wave. L.A.’s Boyle Heights neighborhood has already been under heavy pressure from locals who feel like they’re witnessing the next wave of over-gentrification, and is now on the verge of getting their own craft beer brewery and tap room.

The project, first spotted by The Eastsider, is even aptly named, given the hipster cred surrounding both Boyle Heights and craft beer: Indie Brewing Co.

The industrial building in question sits at 2301 E. 7th Street, just off the 101 Freeway. It’s currently under heavy rehab (like much of the changing area) and will feature the brewery alongside a few other unnamed tenants. Of course, there’s a lot more than just putting in new plumbing when it comes to a commercial brewing operation (especially one inside City of Los Angeles borders). Add in plans for an on-site taproom, and things could take a while.

Look for a hopeful debut mid-2015.
